Here's how i think the main page would look like with the added features that Emsy requested.

Once upon a time there was a horrible design here. Not anymore, though.

Not bad, i think we need to utilize right side panels for all server info because it simply wont be enough to fit all information.

yea i agree, this is a page where we can use thsoe right side panels, cause this is a landing page for all newcommers, and that info needs to catch their eye.

I don't like how it looks like with all that wasted space. I guess some ad will go there.

Ye looks nice, it wont look as empty as u might think if we decide not to show too many recent news to keep scrolling down to minimum (before using redirect to news section or page 2).
Right side panel will be at least double the size on the pic :)

I have an other design in mind, but i might need to nerf it a little bit depending on the answer to the next question: How far can i go? Like, could i think of subtle animations?

depends on what kidn of animations it is... some are doable via css/js, some need flash (which i refuse to use/learn)

hover animations or style/color changes are a must for interactive items

Ahm, NVM. I complicated it too much and it wouldn't get along with the forums D:

Anyway, could the menu of the last design i posted be always present, even when scrolling down? I mean something like what Google+ does.

Just to ask, but can HTML5 do what Flash does? Or not yet?

Ok.

Is there going to be a next stage? This stage was supposed to be just about choosing a skin, but we kind of went beyond.
